Pan American Day
Our annual mid-April celebration of the founding of the Organization of American States featuring diplomat keynote speakers and recognitions.

Consular Receptions: We honor members of the diplomatic corps in Philadelphia. The Consular Corps Association of Philadelphia, the oldest and one of the most active in the U.S., is championing a "Consul House" to support globalization activities in the region, including trade, academics, and cultural events, all in a multi-purpose facility.
Tributes to Fallen Heroes: The Annual Carranza Memorial in Mount Holly, N.J, honors aviation pioneer Captain Emilio Carranza of the Mexican Air Force, who died while attempting a record flight between New York and Mexico City.
Tribute Receptions: We celebrate notable individuals from the Delaware Valley who have made significant contributions to Panamericanismo, either through community or national service.

The Scholarships of the Pan American Association of Philadelphia encourage and reward area college students for their academic achievements, community service, and engagement with Latin America. The Association now awards nearly $20,000 in scholarships annually, with recipients invited to an award ceremony in April to commemorate Pan American Day.

In 2003, The Pan American Association established the William J. Clothier II Memorial Award to celebrate the life of Bill Clothier, a remarkable member of the “Greatest Generation.” Born in 1915, Clothier was a tennis champion, an FBI special agent during WWII, and a CIA officer from 1952 to 1979. He had a deep passion for Latin America and worked to foster connections throughout his life. The award honors those who embody Clothier’s dedication to public service and the ideals of “Panamericanismo.” Past recipients include President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto and former Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter.
